So you are looking to build a capsule wardrobe for 2021. You have come to the right place. Below I have lots of tips to get you started, plus a capsule collection you can consider. You will find this useful whether you are starting a capsule wardrobe for the first time, or if you are looking to update your capsule for 2021.
When looking to create your capsule wardrobe for 2021, it is best to stick to under seven colours. When starting, it is much easier to put together an outfit in the morning if you have a limited selection of colours to choose from. Lots of colours mean lots of choices which can cause decision fatigue. Start with three or four canvas colours which are muted tones. Royal blue, charcoal, ivory, stone and blood red are effective options that suit all skin tones. Next, if you want more colour, choose two or three paint shades to highlight your capsule wardrobe. The paint shades can be in any colour, but preferably select shades that suit you.
Next, consider your lifestyle and what you do on a weekly basis. Do you need clothes you can wash easily? Do your clothes need to protect you in some way? Look smart? Keep you warm or cool?
Finally, if there is an area of your body you do not like, do not swamp it in something baggy. The best thing you can do is to skim over that area while emphasizing a place you do like. If you are trying to hide an area that is heavier on your body, then choose plain, dark shades in fabric. Use patterns, bright colours and detailing in places you do like. This way, you will draw the eye away from the part of your body you want to hide.
