Your Summer Capsule Wardrobe For 2021
How do you update your summer capsule wardrobe in 2022? The first thing you need to do is to avoid any extreme trends. This season neon is back, and whilst it looks like a fun and exciting trend it will not last. Within 18 months, it is highly likely these oversized suits in neon shades will die a painful death. So how do you weave your way through to create a capsule that includes current trends but remains classic and timeless?
The answer is to look for the trends that will blend into your current collection, mix and match easily and not date as soon as the season changes. The problem with huge trends is that they are often quite extreme and can cause two issues: the dating issue I have raised above and the second being that they are often quite hard to slot into an existing capsule wardrobe. The only exception to this rule may be a capsule of a particular sub-group, style or colour that matches the trend. Below you will find some carefully curated trends that will complement your current capsule or be great additions to a capsule you are building. Where possible i have chosen sustainable options.
Florals are big this summer. Either mix with another floral or mix with a block colour using the print to match it.
Puff sleeve dresses carry on into summer. Wear on their own with neutral accessories.

Curating Your Summer Capsule
Any additions to your existing capsule should be carefully selected. Try not to get caught up in trends you will never wear. Since most of us are now returning to a sense of normality, it can feel quite exciting to be out shopping in the traditional sense. Make sure that you do not get caught up in the moment and come home with an impulse buy you will never wear. If that happens, return it a few days later. Alternatively, to avoid the issue altogether, ask for the item to be put aside for the following day, or keep it in your basket if you are shopping online. Go away and think about it and then return and buy if you decide it is a good fit. Shop intentionally to avoid distractions.
