The Lollipop Body Type

The Lollipop Body Shape

The Lollipop

You tend to have a large bust, slim shoulders, slim waist, slim hips and long legs.

Your Clothing Mistakes

You have a beautiful feminine shape, but the chances are you have always been conscious of your large breasts in comparison with the rest of your body. When women know that one area of their bodies is slightly larger than the rest, they tend to try and find the baggiest of clothing to cover it up. This would be a disaster for you! The worst thing you could do is to cover up your slim waist and drown your bust in something baggy!

Although high-waisted trousers make your legs look longer, because of your relatively short waist and large breasts it can make the top half look out of proportion. Polo necks and high necks are also best avoided because they do not cover up your breasts but make them look larger.

Avoid anything that hangs off your breasts straight down or in a flare or an A-line. Avoid short cut-off jackets and tops because these will give a similar effect to the high-waisted trousers. Chunky jumpers will exaggerate your top half making it appear larger.

Your Best Choices

You are likely quite self-conscious about your bust, so the best thing you can do is to balance out your shoulders and hips in line with your breasts. Bell-bottoms or flares with loose sleeves will help balance out your body. You want to choose garments that fit over your bust but have detailing elsewhere. A-line or flared, or fluted skirts would work well on you. Choose wide necklines and avoid spaghetti tops. When choosing a dress fit it to your breasts first, this may mean buying a larger size and then having the dress taken in around your waist. Wide V-necks, off the shoulders, and wrap tops and dresses will also work well on you.

Jackets

Choose fitted jackets that come in at the waist. A wide neck, gathered sleeves, shoulder pads and puff sleeves will all give the impression of broader shoulders, and a double-breasted jacket will lengthen your waist. Avoid any crop jackets.

Tops and Tshirts

Sweatheart or V-neck tops will widen your shoulders, thereby balancing out your bust. A pattern in the material can all help to balance you out. Never choose a top that falls straight from the fullest part of your breasts make sure they always come in underneath. Off-the-shoulder tops and those with wide straps and loose sleeves will work well for you.

Shirts and Blouses (and Tank Tops)

Choose fitted or slim fit shirts over anything baggy. Anything in a fitted jersey or woven lycra will enhance your waist and draw attention to the area. A blouse with a fitted body and gathered loose, or puffy sleeves will broaden your shoulder and balance out your shape. If you have trouble finding shirts to fit your bust either choose a shirt that fits your bust and have the waist taken in, or wear with a fitted tank-top.

Knitwear

Avoid loose, long and chunky knitwear and select cardigans and jumpers that skim your body. A round neck or V-neck is preferable. Avoid polo or turtle necks. Gathered 1950’s style sleeves would widen your shoulders to balance out your bust. Wrap jumpers and cardigans will work well for you too. A slim fitted tank top over a loose sleeved blouse will draw your waist in while diverting attention away from your bust area.

Swimwear

For a swimming costume, choose one that has excellent support for your bust and closes in a wide halterneck. A low cut leg will help balance out your hips. Alternatively, select a wide halterneck bikini with either full bottoms or boy-shorts which will balance out your hips. Always buy them from a retailer that allows you to purchase the top and bottom separately otherwise they will never fit!

Coats

Choose a coat with a wide-open lapel which finishes just below the bust will help draw out your shoulders. A double-breasted coat where the buttons start just under the bust will balance this area out. Avoid buttons that go up any further than that. The coat should be fitted at the top and then flare out from the hip to the hem to give fullness around your hips.

Dresses

Look for dresses that fit you well on the bust, if they are loose elsewhere have them altered to fit your waist. A wide V-neck, wrap style or sweetheart neck will enhance your shape. Avoid anything that falls directly from the fullest part of the breast because it will look like a tent on you. Soft floaty jersey in either a wrap or knotted style will work well for you.
